iPartners Bond Income Fund Surpasses Expectations

Celebrating Six Months of Exceptional Growth (By Shannon Turnbull, 24th June 2024)

In just half a year since its inception on December 1, 2023, the iPartners Bond Income Fund (BIF), with a target return of RBA Cash +3-4% after fees, has set a new standard for income-focused investing, delivering an impressive, annualised return of over 10%, significantly outpacing the RBA Cash by approximately 5.7%.

Anchored by a commitment to quality, with at least 80% of its portfolio in externally rated investment-grade bonds, the BIF stands alone in its ability to offer such robust returns alongside transparency and reliability.

Our journey reflects not just numbers, but a steadfast dedication to providing our investors with unparalleled access to high-grade bonds, backed by a strategic, knowledge-fuelled approach that consistently aligns with the evolving goals of self-directed investors.

Senior Portfolio Manager Andrew Baume said “the returns that the segment the BIF has focused on are amongst the best risk adjusted returns available in debt. As a core allocation to an income generating portfolio, the key features of the process manifest in relative stability of unit price and consistent returns. The recommended investment horizon is at least 2-3 years.”

Portfolio Assistant Manager Gahee Bong noted that the iPartners platform had been critical in enabling the BIF to gain access to key transactions that contribute to the fund’s success.  “The iPartners presence in the bond market extends across several different offerings allowing us to participate in deals that meet our various risk versus reward parameters.”

Portfolio Manager Justin Harsel noted that the background of each of the PMs contributed to the selection process. The efficiency of each bond selected was identified both on its own merits and on its portfolio effect. “Experience doesn’t guarantee success but comprehensive knowledge not only of the Australian Floating Rate market but the types of bonds that are issued is the cornerstone to our investment approach.”

Travis Miller, Chair of the Investment Committee and CEO of iPartners Group said “The early success of the BIF has been another great example of iPartners delivering a new breed of investments to a client base thinking outside the box drawn for them by traditional money managers. With the imminent addition of the BIF to major investment platforms, a wider group of investors will be able to access this outstanding income driven fund.”
